An officer said that unit XII of the crime branch received information that Shaikh, a wanted accused in the Mulund case, was running a hospital named Aziz Polyclinic in Malwani where he acted as a doctor. Based on the information, a police team with the help of BMC Assistant Medical Officer conducted a raid at the spot.
They detained Shaikh after it was found that he pretended to be a doctor, admitted patients with various ailments to his hospital and administered injections and saline to them despite him not having any medical license or registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council.
The police further found that his wife, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Unani Medicine and Surgery, which does not allow her to keep medicines, kept medicines in the clinic and also permitted her husband to tend to patients even though he did not have the necessary qualifications.
Following this, the duo was taken to the Malwani police station where an FIR was registered against them and they were placed under arrest.
The police further found that while Pervez had three FIR’s registered against him in the past for similar offences, his wife too had one FIR registered against her.
