The Mumbai Police anti-narcotics cell seized 84 kg of amphetamine worth Rs 8.4 crore from a courier company in Andheri (East) on Tuesday. Members of the Bandra ANC unit said the drug hidden in boxes kept below packets of tattoo stickers was to be sent to Malaysia.
Police are now looking for sender of the parcel.
We received information that a huge consignment of amphetamine would be sent through S B International courier in Andheri (East) on September 25. We raided the place and recovered 84 kg of the banned drug hidden below layers of tattoo stickers, an ANC officer said.
Asked whether the courier agency knew about the content of the parcel,Vinayak Deshmukh,deputy commissioner,ANC,said,Primary investigation suggests it did not. We have a few leads and will nab the sender soon.
A case under sections 8(a) read with sections 21,29 of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985,has been registered.
