Desai Khadi bridge construction: Traffic curbs in Thane after 11 pm, alternative routes suggested

Traffic police said the restrictions will be in place until February 27 to facilitate the installation of three cement girders on pillars.

Authorities have urged commuters, especially heavy vehicle drivers, to follow the prescribed alternative routes to avoid inconvenience caused by the bridge construction.

The Thane police have implemented traffic restrictions as part of the ongoing construction of a new bridge on both lanes from Desai Khadi to Katai village near Lodha Palava Junction in Dombivli, Kalyan East. The temporary curbs from 11 pm and 5 am on certain routes until February 27 are meant to facilitate the installation of three cement girders on pillars with the help of cranes, Thane Traffic Department said in a statement.

In some routes, vehicles will be allowed to use only a single lane while in other cases, vehicles will be diverted via Desai Naka and Katai Gap to prevent congestion in the surrounding areas, it said.

Authorities have urged commuters, especially heavy vehicle drivers, to follow the prescribed alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
