Dr S M Doshi,cardio-thoracic surgeon at Geetabai Hospital says high stress levels give rise to various lifestyle diseases.

Among the 53 mega-cities,Pune is close, ranking second consistently in the last five years.

Doshi said,“We commute every day in crowded public transport, constantly worried about being late. Mumbaikars face a multitude of pressures; in addition,we have no option but to consume fast food on our commute.” With joint families dwindling,home-cooked food has become a luxury, he said.

Dr Kalyan Dutta,Consulting Cardiologist at Fortis Hopital, said,“A city like Delhi, with a lesser population, does not breed stress like Mumbai. There are more open spaces, and real estate prices are affordable.”
