Dead body of newborn recovered from garbage disposal in Parel; case registered

In his statement to police, the complainant said that 60 security personnel and four camera operators work under him.

“In the basement of one of the wings, three men were segregating waste. They left at around 7pm on Tuesday and came back to work at about 11.20 am on Wednesday and while segregating, they noticed the dead body of the newly born,” said an officer.

The security officer was subsequently informed following which the police station was contacted and a case under section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) was registered.

An officer said, “We have started checking the CCTV footage and are also inquiring people to understand how the dead body of a child was disposed of there.”
