Cops bust prostitution racket,rescue 2 models

Officers of the special squad of the Additional commissioner of police claimed to have busted a high-profile prostitution racket,and rescued two models hailing from Uzbekistan and Karnataka from a five-star hotel in Santacruz on Monday night.

Officers of the special squad of the Additional commissioner of police (West Region) claimed to have busted a high-profile prostitution racket,and rescued two models hailing from Uzbekistan and Karnataka from a five-star hotel in Santacruz (East) on Monday night.

The police also arrested three agents from the spot,who had allegedly been operating the racket,and seized their car.

Police said,the special squad apprehended the three agents,identified as Laljeeta Mandal (27),Ganesh Mandal (32) and Samshad Ahmed Khan alias Samir (28),from outside the hotel.

The three have been booked under Sections 4 and 5 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). They have been handed over to Vakola police for further investigations.

Police said the two models who have been rescued include a 22-year-old woman from Karnataka and a model from Uzbekistan.

Gyaneshwar Ganore,senior police inspector of the special squad,said a meeting was set up between a decoy customer and the agents based on a tip-off.

Police officers said the agents divulged the name of one Gopal,who is allegedly the mastermind of the racket,on interrogation.

“We are trying to trace Gopal. The three were produced before a court,which remanded them in police custody till February 21,” said Ganore.
