Constable hangs self in police quarters

A 38-year-old constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Bhoiwada on Wednesday,the police said.

A 38-year-old constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Bhoiwada on Wednesday,the police said.

Chandar Rama Sargar,who was attached to the Local Arms Unit,Naigaon,was reportedly staying alone at police quarters for the past year-and-a-half after his wife went to her village for their child’s delivery,police said.

“On Tuesday evening,when Sargar did not open the door despite repeated knockings,the roomates broke open the door and found his body. No suicide note was found,” said senior police inspector Vikram Patil of the Bhoiwada police station.

Police officials said Sargar was an alcoholic. “He was also irregular at work. We are probing whether it was depression or any other reason that led him to take this step,” Patil said.
