The first-ever Common Entrance Test (CET) for BBA, BCA, BMS and BBM admissions in Maharashtra will be computer-based and in multiple choice question (MCQ) format. The questions will be asked in four sections – English language, reasoning (verbal as well as arithmetic), general awareness and computer basics.

In Maharashtra, the admission to professional Under-Graduate (UG) courses such as Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) will no longer be based on Class XII or equivalents marks, as per the traditional practice. The changes have been incorporated as the courses have been brought under the ambit of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

With only two days remaining to register for the CET, confusion prevails among aspirants who are unaware of the changes.

“I did not know that CET is now mandatory for BMS admissions, forget about what will be asked in the exam,” said parent of a BMS aspirant, adding that most in his son’s friend-circle do not know of the change and were waiting for Class 12 result to begin their process of admission. “Even our colleges have not told us about the changes,” told a student, adding that there is panic among aspirants now.

No negative marks for wrong answers in CET

Even as the CET date is yet to be announced, as per the information brochure issued by the Maharashtra CET Cell, the test with a total score of 100 marks will be computer-based and will have a duration of 90 minutes. Each question carries one mark with no negative marking for wrong answers.
