Civic body fines construction firm for pipeline burst

The BMC has levied a Rs 10-lakh fine on a construction firm for allegedly causing a water pipeline burst in the city last week while executing road repairs.

The BMC has levied a Rs 10-lakh fine on a construction firm for allegedly causing a water pipeline burst in the city last week while executing road repairs. Workers of Mahavir Construction,which has been contracted to concretise the road near Poddar Hospital in Worli,reportedly damaged a 1.5-inch distribution line on Saturday. “We cannot afford to have any water waste,” said Vinay Deshpande,Hydraulic Engineer,BMC.
