Century Rayon struck good form and blanked Milan FC 2-0 in a third Division encounter of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2013-14,at the St. Xaviers ground,Parel on Wednesday evening. Manish Abraham netted both the goals for the winners.
In another match of the same division,Nails United got the better of Kajupada FC by a solitary goal,which came through the efforts of striker Winston Aranha.

Rohan Shukla stars for DPYA
Rohan Shukla’s hat-trick for Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School helped his team to a 3-0 win over Sacred Heart,Byculla in the Airtel Rising Stars at the Veitenary College Hostel Ground,Parel.
A solitary goal by Darryl D’Silva gave St Xavier’s Bhandup the win over Malad’s Ryan International. In another game,Anjuman Islam High School ‘B’ beat Manekji Cooper School 2-0,while Sacred Heart (Santacruz) and Army School entered the next round after getting walkovers.

Mumbai schools impress
Aryan Makhija was one of the stars at the 10th AISM Swimming Championship,held at the Ozone Club in Goregaon,earlier this week. Makhija,a student at Arya Vidya Mandir in Bandra won three gold medals in the under-14 division of the 200 meter medley,50 meter butterfly and 100 meter freestyle.
The tournament was a west-zone meet with over 61 schools from Maharashtra,Gujarat and MP participating. With athletes competing across categories such as freestyle,breast-stroke,butterfly-stroke in individual as well as medley categories,across age groups such as under-8,under- 10,under-12,under 14,under-16,under-19 (boys and girls separately),a large chunk of the medals were won by students from Mumbai schools,Bombay Scottish Mahim,Vibgyor High,AVM Bandra,Dhirubhai Ambani and host school Jamnabai Narsee.
Vijay Patil to announce his panel
Even though the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) election is yet to take place,it is learnt that MCA vice-president Vijay Patil has formed his low-profile group to contest election. Patils group will feature former India pacer Abey Kuruvilla whereas it also has Sachin Tendulkars childhood freind Atul Ranade. Ashish Patankar,who is secretary of MIG Club,Bandra has also found place in the panel. The formal announcement is schedule to take place soon. MCA election is schedule to take place on October 18.
