The Samta Nagar police arrested a 35-year-old employee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for allegedly making a hoax call.

Sweeper held for making hoax call

The Samta Nagar police arrested a 35-year-old employee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for allegedly making a hoax call claiming there were explosives arriving at Kandivli railway station on Monday evening. According to Police Inspector Mandakini Kharvate,the control room received a call informing about the arrival of explosives at Kandivli station. The team rushed to the spot but found nothing. The police traced the call to Jayesh Solanki,who resides in Kasturba Marg in Borivali east,and works as a sweeper. His brother told the police that Solanki usually makes such calls under the influence of alcohol. The police have arrested Solanki and will produce him before the court on Tuesday.

No cash in suitcases kept at CST cloak room

Two suitcases that were kept in the cloak room of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus,allegedly containing Rs 2 crore in cash,were checked in the presence of GRP,RPF and Income-Tax personnel on Monday. When the bags were opened,no cash or objectionable articles were found.

Last week,the GRP control room had received a call claiming that the suitcases in the cloakroom contained Rs 2 crore in cash. While one suitcase contained child’s clothes and school uniforms,the other had clothes of a man.
