BMC employees called off their plans to go on strike after the authorities Tuesday agreed to pay them Rs 300 crore in arrears. Another Rs 4,000 crore will be paid as PF and in other forms,said Rajhans Singh,Congress corporator who was involved in the discussion with employees. The Municipal Mazdoor Union and the Shiv Sena-affiliated Bhartiya Kamagar Sena had also demanded the fifth installment of the Sixth Pay Commission payscale.

MMRDA awaits Centre nod for 3rd Metro route
The state government has sent a proposal to the Department of Economic Affairs,Ministry of Finance,seeking approval in principle for the bidding process for the Colaba-Bandra Metro Rail corridor,the third route. Officials expect a Viability Gap Funding (VGF) over 40 per cent,mainly because almost half the alignment will be underground as there are several heritage sites along the route.

Boy drowns in pond
