Chhota Shakeel aide to be extradited

A three-member team of the Mumbai police is scheduled to leave for Bangkok on Friday night to extradite Gurpreet Singh Bhullar alias Micky (31),one of the shooters of Chhota Shakeel gang.

A three-member team of the Mumbai police is scheduled to leave for Bangkok on Friday night to extradite Gurpreet Singh Bhullar alias Micky (31),one of the shooters of Chhota Shakeel gang. He was arrested by the Thai police in 2006.

The Mumbai police are seeking Bhullar’s extradition in connection with a case,in which he had allegedly gunned down a Shiv Sena activist identified as Ramakant Hadkar. The case was registered at Vile Parle police station in 2000. He had been also allegedly involved in attempted murder cases registered at Sakinaka and Andheri police stations.

“A three-member team is leaving for Bangkok tonight to extradite Bhullar. He was one of the main shooters of the Chhota Shakeel gang,” said JCP Rakesh Maria.

According to the police, two men came to the Shiv Sena shakha at Malviya Road Junction and shot Hadkar in 2000. One of the assailants,Vivek Kamble, was killed in a police encounter the same year, while the other assailant Bhullar eluded the police.

“On November 6,2006,Bhullar was arrested by the Thai Special Branch for firing and injuring an Indian identified as Syed Rehman (31) from Hyderabad on May 25,2003. The Thai police also found that Bhullar had a forged passport in the name Iqbal. He was then sentenced to imprisonment. An Interpol Red Corner Notice was issued against Bhullar by the Mumbai Police in December 2006,and on February 5,2009,a criminal court in Bangkok ruled that he could be extradited to India,” said Maria.
