For an award that has just been instituted,the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards certainly did well for itself in terms of celebrity attendance. Not only were there stars in the audience,they were there on the stage at the Yash Raj Studios on Wednesday night,dancing away. Salman Khan did a jig to his hit tracks from Dabangg; Saif Ali Khan danced too,as did girlfriend Kareena Kapoor. Asha Bhosle opened the evening with a rendition of the sufi song Rab Rakha. She and music composer AR Rahman also presented the major award of the evening,the Lifetime Achievement Award,to big sis Lata Mangeshkar. AR,who seems to be in a chatty mood these days,narrated an anecdote about his father being such a fan of Lataji,that he would pray to a framed picture of hers everyday before composing.
