Looks like the art circuit and the business world together are gaining consciousness towards social responsibility. An ‘art-for-a-cause’ annual fest,The Fountainhead Palette 2010,organised by Fountainhead Leadership Centre and EdelGive Foundation at Kihim,Alibaug, was their latest venture. The art fest that began on October 18,held an art camp, art walk and an art exhibition — all this to make the usual bid-hammering activity different. Organised at a scenic seaside location, over 43 artists— Jatin Das,Vrindavan Solanki,Manish Pushkale,Prem Singh,Sujata Achrekar,Arunanshu Chowdhury — mingled with younger artists, shared their experiences and made art for charity. The art walk also displayed paintings of nearly 40 artists such as Devyani Parikh,Ajay De,Shuva Prasanna Bhattacharya,Jogen Choudhary,Paritosh Sen and Charan Sharma. The proceeds from the sale will be directed to 20 identified NGOs across India — Aangan Trust,Masoom,Ibtada,Mumbai Mobile Crèches and the Light of Life Trust. The exhibition comprising over 300 paintings held on Sunday witnessed corporate guests and the art coterie present at the venue. While corporates got a chance to see and buy interesting pieces of art,the younger artists exercised their sale mechanics, took tips from the veterans and added a ribbon of social-responsibility to their collars. Alisha Chinai, the ’90s pop diva was also spotted at the exhibition, perhaps looking out for another thing ‘Made in India’— art this time we reckon. Showstopper To make the journey to Alibaug fun and quick,a private mini yatch-cum-speedboat was at every attendees service.
