Unbeaten Catholic Gymkhana suffered their first defeat in four games as they went down fighting 1-0 to Sahar Silver Star in a Division III match of the Mumbai District Football Association League.

Rajeev Yadav netted the all-important winning goal in the first half of the match. In other action of the day,Alfresco FC and Aristocrat FC shared honours in a 1-1 draw. Nelson Fernandes scored for Alfresco,while Aristocrat got their goal through Jay Shah.

Celtic enter quarters

Yabsir Mustafas twin strikes enabled unbeaten Celtic 7070 FC blank All Stars FC 2-0 in a pool C match of the 9th Bandra West Football League conducted by the Bandra West Football Association at the Dr Norman Lewis Supari Talao Municipal ground.

Celtic with the three points earned from this fluent win have qualified for the quarterfinal playoffs.

All Stars FC,who finished second with 12 points,from five matches have also made it to the playoff round.

In a pool ‘A’ encounter,Bandra Packers proved too strong for Skylarks FC as they romped to a convincing 7-0 win. Leading the Packers charge was their roving striker Taha Kachwala,who fired home three goals. Melroy Fonseca chipped in with two,while Waylon DSouza and Adnan Plumber contributed one apiece towards the teams victory. Packers have also advanced to the playoffs.
