As per the FIR, the building in which the complainant had a flat went for redevelopment. All flat owners were promised a new flat. Under this pretext the developers got possession of his flat but never delivered the promised flat to him, states the police complaint.

The accused kept the complainant in the dark, won his trust by allegedly showing him bogus documents. The complainant claimed that he did not get possession of the new flat, which caused a wrongful loss of Rs 5 crore, said a source.

All this occured between 2020 till date, police sources said.

The Santacruz police have booked the two accused under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
