Bubbling Again

The new format will see 12 producers, who are part of the show, creating a single each, every month.

“I feel like I am the odd one out at this event,” said Delhi-based desi hip hop artiste Raftaar, as he was seated next to singer Rekha Bhardwaj at the launch of season 4 of Coke Studio@MTV. This bringing together of artistes who belong to opposite ends of the music spectrum has been one of the main draws of the show. With the announcement of its new season, Coke Studio@MTV pushes this further. The other names in the line-up include popular music composers such as Amit Trivedi, Pritam, Vishal Shekhar, Sneha Khanwalkar, Ram Sampath, Papon, Clinton Cerejo and Badshah.

The new format will see 12 producers, who are part of the show, creating a single each, every month. In Season 2 and 3, six songs were released by each composers. The new season, which is spread over a year, will also see an emphasis on the visual element of the show. In addition to the video of the live performance, there will be a music video for each song. The first track unveiled, Teriya Tu Jaane, has Trivedi collaborating with lyricist Irshad Kamil and singers Jyoti Nooran and Harshdeep Kaur.
