(File Photo)The Mumbai police Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man who was recently released on bail in a murder case after he attacked the younger brother of the deceased he allegedly murdered in 2012.
As per the complaint, the accused Moin Shaikh initially had warned the complainant Mohammad Shaikh, 28, that he would “kill him like his brother” before a fight broke out between them.
Senior inspector of Chunabhatti police station Nisha Jadhav said that they have arrested Moin in connection with the attack on Mohammad that took place on Sunday.
Jadhav said that in November 2021, Moin along with another person were arrested in connection with the murder of Mateen, 20. Both were residents of Qureshi Nagar area in Kurla (east) when the incident took place.
Moin had since been lodged at the Arthur Road prison and was recently released on bail in March this year. Ever since he was out, he would allegedly get into arguments with the deceased elder brother Mohammad who had been pursuing the murder case.
As per the FIR, on Sunday evening around 5.30pm, when Mohammad was sitting by himself in Qureshi Nagar area, Moin who was riding his bike spotted him. He slowed down the bike and told him that “he would kill him like he had killed his brother.”
Around half an hour later the duo allegedly came face to face again, and Moin allegedly looked at Mohammad and began laughing. When the latter asked him why he was laughing the duo got into an argument, following which Moin pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked Mohammed several times.
The FIR states that when locals tried to intervene, Moin shouted out that he had already committed a murder and would commit another one if anyone tried to intervene. However, eventually Mohammad was rushed to the local hospital and was out of danger.
The local Nehru Nagar police station later registered an attempt to murder case and arrested Moin on Tuesday following which he was produced before the court and remanded to police custody.
