Navi Mumbai man allegedly kills three-year-old after planning to demand ransom from child’s father to recover gaming loss
The girl had gone missing while she was playing outside her house two days ago following which a kidnapping case was registered.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering a three-year-old girl and hiding her body inside a bag in her house in Navi Mumbai’s Taloja while her family was busy looking for her outside.
The girl had gone missing while she was playing outside her house two days ago following which a kidnapping case was registered.
On Wednesday, the family found the body of the girl stuffed in a rexine bag inside her house.
According to police, the accused was identified as Mohammed Ansari, who is a neighbour of the girl’s family. Ansari is originally from Jharkhand.
Police said that the accused, who has three kids, allegedly murdered the girl as her mother would often quarrel with his wife. The accused also allegedly lost some money in online gaming and had planned to extort the girl’s father after murdering her.
After the girl had gone missing, a kidnapping case was registered at the Taloja police station. Five police teams and crime branch teams were pressed to look for the kidnapper.
On Wednesday night, the girl’s family experienced strong foul smell in the house and discovered a bag in the bathroom loft. On opening it they were shocked to find girl’s body inside the bag.
Taloja police received information that the girl’s body is at her house only. “The body was found stuffed in a rexine bag kept in washroom loft. We then added a section of murder in the case and further investigated the matter,” said DCP Prashant Mohite adding that during the probe, police arrested Ansari.
Ansari had strangled the girl to death with a shoeless. He was arrested as inquiry revealed that the rexine bag belonged to him.
According to police, Ansari’s wife used to have arguments with the girl’s mother over their children playing in their compound.
The accused also claimed he lost Rs 42,000 on an online game and in order to recover the loss, he planned to kill the girl and extort money from her father after disposing of the body, police said.
“But as he didn’t get a chance to dispose of the body, he hid it in the girl’s house when the family was out looking for the child,” DCP Mohite said.
“We have arrested Ansari on murder charges and will be producing him in court tomorrow,” senior inspector Pravin Bhagat of the Taloja police station said Thursday.
