In April last year,Pundole’s — of Pundole Art Gallery in Kala Ghoda — held their inaugural auction, offering “a group of paintings from the collection of the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA),inclusive of the bequest from the Estate of the late Jamshed Bhabha”. Six months later, they held another auction, this time “property from the Estate of Bhabha”,which included silver, furniture, carpets, paintings and sculptures. The third auction,in January this year, was one of Indian art, including miniatures from the Estate of Bhabha.

Now,on August 27 and 28,Pundole’s will conduct their fourth auction. This one, however, has more to offer than any of the previous editions. A “fine and decorative arts sale”,the auction will include property from the estate of Bhabha as well as items from a number of other private homes, including property from the Estate of Noshir Nanporia.

Among the various objects on offer are sculptures from second century onwards,Asian and European ceramics, miniature paintings, modern Indian art,Japanese scrolls, silver, textile, furniture, glass and Tanjore School paintings. One of the highlights of the auction is a group of antiquities from Bhabha’s personal collection, which include two pieces of Gandharan sculpture, several pieces of stone from Central India and a 13th century bronze Saint Sambandar, which will also be up for sale.
