BEST to introduce AC bus services on key routes from today to strengthen fleet

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking will introduce air-conditioned bus services on key routes from Friday. The new buses will be available to commuters at standard fares, ensuring a comfortable and affordable travel experience.

The addition of AC buses is part of BEST’s ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet and improve passenger comfort. BEST is gradually expanding its fleet with addition of new wet lease buses to their fleet step by step.

It also aims to fill service gaps on certain routes, particularly on Route 511 and Corridor Route C-53, which will now see improved connectivity. The newly introduced AC bus routes will be designated as A-7, A-511, and RC-53.

“Thirty buses from the wet lease operator will be added to the fleet starting today. Once the necessary clearances from statutory authorities are obtained, more new buses will be introduced into service,” said the BEST spokesperson.

According to BEST, the A-7 route will operate between Vijay Vallabh Chowk (Paydhuni) and Vikhroli depot, with eight buses running at intervals of 25 to 50 minutes. The first bus from Vijay Vallabh Chowk will depart at 7.20 am while the last bus will leave at 11.30 pm. From Vikhroli depot, the first bus will start at 6 am, with the last departure at 10 pm.

The A-511 route will connect Ghatkopar Bus Station to Neral Bus Station, also with eight buses running at 25 to 30 minute intervals. The first bus from Ghatkopar will leave at 4.05 am, while the last will operate at 12.30 am. In the reverse direction, services from Neral will begin at 4.45 am, with the final bus at 4.25 am.

Meanwhile, the RC-53 corridor route will enhance connectivity between Ghatkopar and Kalamboli Bus Stations with 14 buses, operating at intervals of 15 to 20 minutes. The first bus from Ghatkopar will start at 6 am, and the last at 8.30 pm. From Kalamboli, services will run from 7.10 am to 10.10 pm.
