BEST bus catches fire, no casualties

A double-decker bus operated on wet lease by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking caught fire Tuesday near Siddharth College signal in South Mumbai. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The bus was en route from Bhatia Baug to Backbay Depot when the fire broke out at approximately 9:15 am. According to the preliminary report, flames were observed near the high-voltage battery system located adjacent to the front left-side tyre.

Officials confirmed that there were no passengers injured in the incident.
“No passenger was injured in the incident. The fire was contained before it could spread further,” said a BEST official.
Further investigation to find out the cause of the fire is underway. The electric double-decker involved in the accident is manufactured by Switch Mobility.
