IT’S not new for Varanasi to play muse to creative endeavours. Now,it’s the source of inspiration for jewellery brand Zoya and lifestyle boutique Taj Khazana. The two have launched a collection of Banarasi saris and jewellery that was showcased at a fashion show held at The Taj Palace hotel in Delhi recently. The collection of handmade Banarasi silk saris include rare motifs such as jangla (inspired from jungles),pankha (fan),bagh (garden) and kairee (paisley) and extensive zari borders.

The “Banaras” collection by Zoya offers jewellery in 22 karat gold along with polki diamonds and precious stones such as malachite,turquoise and pink opals. An interesting piece are the chandelier earrings with white polkis that are inspired by lamps used during the Ganga Aarti.
