Doctors and investigators have confirmed that the bullet which injured CCI CEO Kamaljeet Rajpal went through the roof of his mouth, from behind the teeth, indicating that the barrel was inside his mouth.

The bullet from his licensed revolver entered from behind his upper teeth, without breaking them, went up in a straight line past his nasal cavity and exited from the top of his forehead, said a doctor at Bombay Hospital. According to forensic experts, such a path is mostly caused in attempted suicide or homicide cases.

“If the bullet’s entry wound is in the palate and has followed a path past the nasal cavity and exited from the top of the head then there is only a faint possibility that this is an accident,” said a forensic doctor from a prominent hospital in South Mumbai. “I would term this as either a murder or a suicide attempt,” he added.

“While the case is one of suicide,we cannot really file the case until we know the cause and intention of it. Until such a matter is investigated we can’t register it as a suicide,” said Police Inspector Vilas Bhole of the Cuffe Parade police.
