Bank employee found dead in flat

“There was also a notepad near her body on which she had jotted down things related to work. So far,we have not found anything suspicious in the case,though we have not been able to determine the cause of her death. We are waiting for her mother to come to Mumbai after which the autopsy would be performed. We have not found any evidence which might suggest that she committed suicide. However,from the amount of cigarette butts found near her body,it seems that she used to smoke heavily and we think that the smoking,coupled with job stress,might have led to a heart attack. However,till the post-mortem is completed,nothing can be said for sure,” said Labde.

Mukherjee had been staying in the rented apartment since September 2008 and had got the flat through her employers,who had contacted an agent who had helped her procure the flat. She has no relatives in Mumbai except an aged uncle living in Thane. “We also questioned the uncle,Ajit Kumar Bose about the deceased but he did not tell us anything that might be construed as a reason for committing suicide.” At the building,the security guard did not let media persons enter the premises,claiming that he had been directed by the manager of the building to prohibit non-residents from entering the premises.
