Aspiring air hostess,cop kill self in separate incidents

Two cases of suicide were reported in the northern suburbs Sunday,police said.

Two cases of suicide were reported in the northern suburbs Sunday,police said. In the first case,a 24-year-old aspiring air hostess allegedly killed herself in Naigaon. In another,a police constable,24,posted in Mira Road,allegedly hanged himself inside his home.

Aliya Shaikh was found dead at her home in Mariam Nagar,Naigaon (West) on Saturday night,police said. Shaikh was studying to be an air hostess after her graduation. However,she was allegedly depressed as she had not found a job. She had been alone at Saturday night,police said. Her parents returned from Vasai and found the body. No suicide note was found.

A case of accidental death has been registered at Manickpur police station.

“She had applied to several airlines but was rejected and was reportedly depressed. A probe is on,” a police officer said.

No suicide note was found in the second case either. Constable Parvez Pathan,posted at Kashimira station,was found hanging in his bedroom in Mira Road’s Hatkesh locality around 12.15 am Sunday. He was rushed to Umrao Hospital and declared dead on arrival.

Police claimed that he had frequent arguments with his wife but have ruled out foul play. “Pathan had been working in the force for three years and had been in his new posting for only a few months. The two had had an argument after dinner on Saturday night. After the argument,he locked himself in the bedroom. When he did not answer his wife’s repeated knocks,she grew worried and managed to open the door. When she saw him hanging from the ceiling fan,she called the police. There does not seem to be any foul play. We will record the wife’ statement,” an officer said.

Headless body of woman found

The body of an unidentified woman was found near Nallasopara railway station Sunday. “The head was severed from the body. The body was sent to J J Hospital for post-mortem. We are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased,” said an officer from Waliv police station.
