Even as the volcanic ash clouds over Europe have largely dispersed, international flights to and from India continue to take a longer route to reach European cities.
The ash clouds cause by volcanic eruption in Iceland had caused havoc for international flights last month.
Flights continue to take the northern route, said a Jet Airways spokesperson. An Air India spokesperson added that some flights continued to take the deviated route, which was resulting in more travel time for international passengers.
Eurocontrol, the European Organisation for safety of Air Navigation, said in a statement on Wednesday: The areas of high ash concentration at high altitude which had caused major difficulties in recent days over the Atlantic and the Iberian Peninsula dispersed during the night. Eurocontrol, however, added that areas of high ash concentration at lower altitudes are still causing some difficulties for trans-Atlantic flights.
From April 15 to April 21,all international flights flying over Europe were grounded due to the volcanic ash clouds.
