An anonymous art collector has donated nearly 100 paintings from his private collection to help improve the condition of stray dogs in the city.

It is not art exhibitions by famous artists alone that attract attention. An anonymous art collector has donated nearly 100 paintings from his private collection to help improve the condition of stray dogs in the city. The paintings will be on display at the the next exhibition-cum-sale organised by the Welfare for Stray Dogs (WSD). It will be held at the Cymroza Art Gallery in Breach Candy on Friday and Saturday.

The works on display will include antique Indian glass paintings and Chinese watercolour works from the 1940s,among others. It is interesting to note that the paintings are not by famous artists or highly priced. Their price ranges from Rs 1,000-Rs 8,000. Their artistic appeal lie in their accessibility,affordability and support to the cause.

The funds raised by the exhibition will be utilised in the WSD programmes such as sterilisation,adoption drives and rabies awareness campaigns. Apart from the paintings,the sale will include regular WSD products such as T-shirts,bags,notebooks,photo frames,calendars and other merchandise.
