Lifeline Express in Thane for a month

Medical services by the Lifeline Express or ‘Jeevan Rekha’ Express,a mobile hospital train run by the NGO Impact India Foundation will be available to the people in Thane district and its neighbouring areas from May 14-June 13. The Lifeline Express will be stationed for almost a month at Vasind (on Mumbai outskirts) on the Central Railway route,Impact India CEO Zelma Lazarus said. “This will be our 125th project. So far we have treated six lakh poor patients across the country,”she said. Surgeons and doctors from KEM Hospital,J J Hospital and Nair Hospital,will offer free services to the patients,she added.

‘Move civil court over building damage’

Declining to grant relief to a resident of a suburban building which was allegedly damaged due to the constructions of the metro rail line,the Bombay High Court has directed the person to approach a civil court to ascertain the cause of damage to the structure. Monica Matani,resident of ‘Gautam Niwas’ in suburban Andheri,had approached the HC alleging the building has been damaged due to the construction of the Versova-Ghatkopar section undertaken by the Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL). Matani had sought that MMOPL be directed to carry out repair works and bear the expenses. A Division Bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Mridula Bhatkar,after going through a report submitted by chief engineer of MMRDA,directed the petitioner to raise the issue before a civil court.

Cops release sketch of murder suspect

With no breakthrough in the murder of a 65-year-old woman who was killed on board the Kamayani Express on April 30,the Kurla Railway Police have released the sketches of the accused.

According to Bapu Thombre,ACP (Kurla division),the sketch was prepared based on the description given by the deceased’s grandson Imran. Police said the man is in his late twenties with wheatish complexion,of medium height and is bald.
