‘No need to speak on our behalf’: Ajit Pawar takes a dig at Sanjay Raut

While clearing the air on rumours about his defection on Tuesday, NCP leader Ajit Pawar, without naming Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, said that he should stick to being the spokesperson of his party, not of the NCP.

Even as he put an end to ‘speculation’ that he was set to switch sides and join the BJP, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Tuesday slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut for speaking on behalf of the NCP and writing about the party affairs in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

“There are some people who are in other parties and not in NCP but are making statements about the NCP. They are behaving as if they are the spokesperson of NCP and speaking about our party affairs, Pawar said, without naming Raut, the spokesperson of Shiv Sena (UBT). “I am going to raise this issue in the party meeting. You should remain your party’s spokesperson and should not try to be NCP’s spokesperson,” Pawar said on Tuesday afternoon while clearing the air on rumours about his defection.

Pawar also took objection to Raut’s weekly column ‘Rokhthol’ that was published on Sunday in which Raut, quoting NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, said that the senior Pawar had mentioned to Uddhav Thackeray that some NCP leaders were being targeted by central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to join hands with the BJP. He also mentioned that as a party, the NCP would never join BJP even if anyone takes an individual decision to do so.

“You are writing in a mouthpiece. It is a mouthpiece of your party. You present your party’s stand in your mouthpiece. Why are you quoting us and writing about our party? We are capable enough to present our side and stand. You do not need to speak on our behalf and present our side, we have not appointed you as our lawyer. We have our own spokespersons and leaders of our party who are capable of presenting our party’s side,” Ajit Pawar said.
