After Opp claim on malpractices, state CEO office says electoral rolls prepared as per rules
The statement provided details of the electoral roll's first and second Special Summary Revision (SSR) for year 2024.

Discarding the objections raised by Opposition parties of deletion of 10,000 voters per assembly on an average basis from the electoral roll, the office of Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Office said that every procedure has been undertaken as per the rules and total voters have increased by around 36.31 lakh till October 20 as compared to those in Lok Sabha polls.
As per the statement issued by the state CEO office on late Monday evening, the total number of voters in the state during Lok Sabha polls was 9,29,43,890. “As of October 20, the number has increased by 36,31,279 voters and total number of voters is 9,65,05,958,” it said.
The statement said that the officials have undertaken a procedure as prescribed by rules under which seven-day notice has also been served to take note of objections over deletion of names as well as changes to be made in other details.

As per the data, at the final publication of first SSR-2024 on January 23, the total number of electors was around 9.12 crore which was as addition of 4.12 lakh voters than the draft SSR-2024.
As per the second SSR-2024 (after Lok Sabha election), the final publication showed the number of voters at 9.53 crore as compared to 9.36 crore shown in the draft published on August 6, 2024.
Last week, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi had met Maharashtra CEO Chockalingam alleging malpractices in deletion of voters in areas where the MVA had managed to win more votes during Lok Sabha election.
