The much delayed demolition of the Sion Rail Over Bridge (ROB) is set to begin from February 28. The bridge is being demolished and its length widened to create space for a fifth and sixth railway line between Parel and Kurla to be laid.

The bridge’s closure was originally slated for January 20, however, it was expected to lead to congestion on ancilliary roads. A meeting in this regard was to be held with the Chief Minister as well, however, given the necessity of the project, the Central Railways has decided to commence with the demolition issuing a public notice that the bridge will be closed from from February 29 onwards for dismantling and reconstruction purposes.
