After signs of healthy onset of monsoon nearly 90 cm in Colaba and 70 cm in Santacruz the rainfall activity in the city has weakened, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. No vigourous activity may be noticed for the next few days, the department said.
Mumbai is having exceptionally good showers so far, however, unlike the past years,we are not seeing persistent and continuous rains. Instead, the rains are occurring as isolated heavy showers, said K Satidevi, director of IMD Mumbai.
She said that the trough on the Konkan coast is currently weak and no low pressure systems are present in the upper air either. As a result, the next few days will not have any vigourous activity, she said adding that isolated heavy rains would continue in spots caused due to a combination of day-time heating and moisture.
Meanwhile,Tuesday recorded rainfall of 3 cm at the Vihar and Tulsi lakes each. In the city Santacruz saw about 3 cms of rainfall, however,Colaba of comparatively dry recording only 4.4 mm throughout the day.
