Adnan,parents get interim relief

A sessions court on Friday granted interim relief to singer Adnan Sami and his parents till Monday...

Court asks them to be present at the hearing of anticipatory bail plea

A sessions court on Friday granted interim relief to singer Adnan Sami and his parents till Monday and directed them to be present in the court during the hearing of the anticipatory bail application filed by them in a case of dowry harrasment registered by Sami’s wife at the Oshiwara police station.

The plea stated that the complaint was an after thought as the dispute between the couple has been going on for a long time and fresh charges have been filed against Sami with an intention to harrass him,it said.

Sabah had filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station on Monday against her husband and in-laws. In her statement to the police, she alleged that she was subjected to mental harassment and verbal abuse at the instance of her husband. She also claimed that a fraud has been perpetrated on her by Adnan and his parents by fraudulently misappropriating her property.

Sabah had also alleged that Sami used foul words while addressing her and would often harass her by bringing female companions at the house. According to her,she suspects Adnan had illicit relationships with them. The statement further claims that Sabah was threatened by the accused and told that her obscene pictures would be published.

Earlier also,Sabah had filed a non-cognisable offence against Sami at the Oshiwara police station alleging that she had been tortured by her husband. She also alleged that Sami had injured her with a cigarette. Sabah has recently filed a case in the High Court to seek a restraining order against Adnan from entering the five flats — they had been gifted to her by the singer— she owns in Oberoi Sky gardens in Andheri.

The court had then questioned the maintainability of the suit as it has risen out of a marriage dispute. Later, the case had been transferred to the family court. Adnan had earlier applied for anticipatory bail with a sessions court on April 15.

The court had then held that such a bail was not maintainable as no complaint had been filed against him. It had granted interim relief to Sami by giving him 72 hours to file an anticipatory bail,if his wife registers a case against him on the charge of harassment and cruelty to her.
