A day after the Bombay High Court observed that there was enough material to file an FIR against former public works department minister Chhagan Bhujbal, the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau Thursday recorded his statement.

The ACB had Wednesday submitted an interim report of its investigations into the alleged irregularities in the construction of Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi, and the HC made the observation while perusing the report.

The ACB subsequently summoned Bhujbal for inquiries. “Bhujbal reached the ACB office late Thursday afternoon and left after his statement was recorded by the Special Investigation Team constituted for the probe,” said an ACB officer. Director General of Police Praveen Dixit confirmed that Bhujbal appeared before the SIT and added that no FIR had been registered in the matter as yet.
