It seems fashion weeks and controversies thrive on each other. Hours before the countrys second India Couture Week began, the designers of the opening show pulled out.
Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, veteran couturiers, have sent a statement via; e-mail saying that they have decided to pull out of Saturdays show. The HDIL sponsored-India Couture Week was supposed to commence on Saturday and go on till Friday, with makers of extravagant clothing Suneet Varma,Pallavi Jaikishan,Varun Bahl,Monsisha Jaising and Manav Gangwani participating in the show.
Abu-Sandeep,as the designer duo are known, claim they have withdrawn from the show “due to non-cooperation of staff of an event management company”.
The event management company’s staff was not only disrespectful to the designers but also unable to provide appropriate seating for their guests. In spite of repeated requests, the management company has not reverted with any solution We regret this announcement on the eve of our show. W cannot risk our guests being offended due to unorganised seating arrangement, say Abu-Sandeep.
The designers wanted more seats for their VIP guests, who are from the film industry and elite families, while the show organisers couldn’t take away seats marked for various sponsors’ guests and give them to the designers. The India Couture Week spokesperson said the event would begin on Monday, with a jewellery show by Devaunshi Mehta,Queenie Dhody,Farah Khan and Maheep Kapoor.
