The Dongri police are investigating the disappearance of a four-year-old boy who went missing from near his house on Wednesday. They, however,do not believe the boy has been kidnapped. Masoom Murtaza went missing from near a tea stall in Nishanpada cross lane, the police said.

Senior police inspector V B Mukne said Masoom may not have been kidnapped as his family told the police that they did not have any enemies and because no ransom call had been made yet.

“At this stage, this does not seem to be a case of kidnapping,” said Mukne.

Masoom had gone missing when he was playing with another child.

“The boy saw his friend playing and asked his mother if he could play too. She agreed. After some time,Mohammad (40),the boy’s father, came looking for his son but could not find him. He asked the tea-stall owner but he claimed he had not seen the boy,” said Mukne. “There is a possibility that the boy may be lost. A probe is on,” said Mukne.
