The Khar police have arrested a gang of three robbers from Malwani in Malad for allegedly injuring a constable while they were being pursued on September 1. The police have claimed to have solved 47 robbery and chain snatching cases in the area with the arrests.
Two policemen were on patrolling duty on September 1 when the main accused,Chauhan,came under the police radar after he tried to run over a beat marshal. This was after one of the policemen tried to intercept the bike on which Chauhan and his accomplice Maruti were travelling.
Police said,on September 1,Subash Bhosale and Anil Tadvi were on patrolling when the former saw two men on a motorbike acting suspiciously. The beat marshal asked them to stop but Chauhan,who was riding the bike,sped away.
The beat marshal again saw them near National College in Bandra. This time Chauhan tried to run his motorbike over Bhosale twice.
The third time,he managed to hold the foot of Maruti but his left hand got stuck in the rear wheel of the two-wheeler. The duo managed to escape and Bhosale had to be admitted to Lilavati Hospital. The doctors had to operate on Bhosale twice, said Pratap Dighavkar,deputy police commissioner (zone 9).
Police nabbed Chauhan and accomplices from Malwani area on September 4.
