The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has appointed Justice T S Doabia Commission to probe into the recent clash due to the congregation of Ashutosh Maharaj organised by Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan in Ludhiana.

Chief of DSGMC Paramjit Singh Sarna said,”Although the state government has issued a magisterial inquiry, but we have no faith in it. We have appointed Justice Doabia of Delhi High Court to file a report within a week.”

We will hand over the report to the Centre, state government and the Home Ministry and also make it public,he added. He condemned the state government for allowing the congregation despite knowing that it could lead to tension and violence in the city. He demanded President’s rule for the government’s failure to handle the situation. We have also demanded an inquiry by the Akal Takht.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal issued a statement yesterday that in future such congregations will not be allowed in the state. This reflects his lack of vision, said Sarna.

“No political party should be allowed to interfere in matters of religion. Badal and his family has harmed Sikhism over the years,” Sarna alleged.

He also said that he was not affiliated to any party. “I am an independent and will remain one.”
