Under-construction PU hostels wall pulled down

A four-foot high wall of the new boys hostel being constructed right behind hostel number 4 in Panjab University was pulled down late by unknown persons on Monday night.

The authorities have marked an inquiry into the matter and Dean Students Welfare Prof Naval Kishore has asked for a detailed report from the warden of hostel number 4.

Talking to Newsline,Prof Kishore said,We will soon identify those responsible for the act. The guilty will be expelled from their respective hostels. Prof Kishore added that those involved would also be asked to pay for the loss.

Sources in the university say boys from hostel number 4 have pulled down the wall,as they do not want the new hostel to come up. Students escape from the wall behind the hostel,but with the new hostel building,this route will be blocked,sources added.

On Tuesday,construction work was resumed on the wall and security was tightened.
