Little did these two migrant labourers know that their decision to sleep on the roadside for some fresh air would cost them their lives.

Twenty-three-year-old Subodh Sahni and 20-year-old Kali, who had come from Bihar around eight years ago, were crushed to death by a truck near the Grain Market on the Jalandhar Bypass this morning.

Ram Parvesh Sahni,a relative of the deceased, said,”As it was very hot last night, both Subodh and Kalia decided to sleep by the roadside while I preferred to sleep inside the room.”

Sahni added,”We do not know what happened for we did not hear any cries or any crashing sound and there is no eyewitness to the accident. Around 7 in the morning,my neighbours informed me about the badly crushed bodies of the duo.”

A police complaint has been lodged at nearby Shimlapuri police station.
