Teej,the festival of rainy season,was celebrated on the lawns of Govt College of Women here on Tuesday.
Surjit Kaur Maluka,wife of Education Minister Sikender Singh Maluka,was the chief guest.
The entire campus wore a festive look. The culture of Punjab came alive through the ambience. The antique charkhas,chakki,duries,phulkari and mehandi were an attempt at depicting a true picture qf what villages must have looked like once.
In their traditioned attire,the college girls danced to the tunes of folk songs. Various stalls of bangles,jewellery,cosmetics,suits,shoes and gift items were put up. Students enjoyed delicacies like kheerpuras and chat.
The students presented a colourful programme which included giddha,tappe,sithneyan,suhag and Punjabi folk songs. A beauty pageant was the special attraction.
