Teachers stage protest

The B.Ed Adhyapak Front today staged a protest at the Mini Secretariat here lamenting the delay in implementation of the Vth Pay Commission report. The agitators also blocked traffic at Ferozpur Road near Mini Secretariat even as they raised slogans against the government.

“As many as 14,000 teachers were appointed on the basis of basic salary. But now as per new scales,there is a lot of difference between basic scales now,we should be covered by the same,” said the agitating teachers who were protesting under the leadership of Harwinder Singh Bilga,Inderjit Singh,Bikramjit Singh Kaddon etc.

The protesting leaders also burnt the copies of Vth Pay Commission and demanded that they should be covered under it.

The teachers warned of holding a state-level protest on June 23 in the district of Education Minister and on July 5 at Jalalabad,if they were not covered under Vth Pay Commission report.
