Teachers stage dharna

The Punjab Agricultural University Teachers Association under the aegis of Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers organisation (PFUCTO) observed a two-hour dharna at PAU campus on Wednesday.

The teachers demanded early and complete implementation of the UGC pay scales even as it condemned the dilly dallying attitude of the state government in the matter.

Dr K N Sharma,president,PAUTA,informed the gathering that the teachers of Amritsar,Gurdaspur and Taran Taran had also organised a rally at Bhandari bridge,Amritsar,today,which had drawn a huge response. He added that regional-level dharnas would continue until the government accepted their demands.

Dr K S Sangha,secretary,PAUTA,said that another two-hour dharna would be staged on the campus on August 21 to press for fulfillment of their demands.
