The Shimlapuri police booked six for duping people of lakhs of rupees by promising to double their in a year. According to Inspector Jaswinder Singh,SHO at police station Shimlapuri,the accused had established a company,Saluja Finance Company,at Shimlapuri area. They allegedly lured people to invest on the pretext of doubling their money and even handed cheques to investors.
Initially one Surinder Singh of Guru Nanak Street Market filed a complaint after he did not receive any money on an investment of Rs 3.10 lakh two years ago. On Friday,police picked up key accused Manjit Singh of Chimni Road of Shimlapuri after registering a case under section 420 and 120-B. The others booked besides Manjit Singh are Balbir Singh,Baljit Kaur,Avtar Singh,Baldhir Singh and Joginder Kaur. Follow the arrests,10 others have come forward and filed complaints against the firm. Among them is Harnek Singh,who said he had invested around Rs 23 Lakh in the company.
