Sisters commit suicide

Two sisters Renu,17,and Meena,16,committed suicide on Tuesday evening. Both sisters along with their younger brother Sanju and father Vinod Kumar were living in a Sadarpura village near here.

As per Sub-Inspector Gurcharan Singh,Vinod Kumar runs a plants nursery in this village for the last eight years. He originally belongs to Meerut but has now settled here in this village. Last evening,when he did not find his daughters at home,he sent Sanju to look for them. Sanju found his sisters unconscious in a remote corner of the nursery. The girls had consumed some chemical that is used to sprinkle on the plants.

The police officer adds,Prima facie we do not know the reason for this suicide as the victims had not left any suicide note behind. The father claims that he too does not know as to why would his daughters take this extreme step. The children had lost their mother,Tara Devi,just a month back,and it was the daughters who were looking after the house now.

The police are learnt to have found a mobile phone,which reportedly belongs to Renu. The father says he has no information about this mobile and did not know that his daughter possessed a mobile phone. After going through the phone numbers,Vinod Kumar has recognized one number which he claims belongs to a boy who lived in their neighbourhood back in Meerut. There could be some kind of love angle here which we are probing. As for now,we just have this lead and nothing more, said the SI.

The police have registered an FIR under Section 174. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the father after post-mortem.
