The district police have found some similarities between the murders of DSP Balraj Singh Gill and Sohan Singh Lambradar,father-in-law of rebel Akali leader Simerjeet Singh Bains. Sohan Singh Lambardar was found murdered in December last year at his residence in Noorpur Bet.
Singh used to live alone in this house after the death of his wife. The police said this murder was the result of a burglary for Singh owned a petrol pump and used to keep cash at home.
The cops had found the body of Singh lying in a pool of blood. He had been brutally murdered after which the thieves had decamped with cash, jewelry and the double-barrel gun which belonged to Singh.
The police are, however, yet to make any headway in the case.
Police Commissioner Ishwar Chander Sharma said,I had a word with Bains and the two murders might be the handiwork of the same gang. In our investigations related to the DSP double murder,we are concentrating on the bet area of the river Sutlej.
While Bains father-in-law was murdered in this area, the car of the DSP,according to the police was last seen near Noorpur Bet. It was later recovered from a road leading from Hamnbran to Laddowal which again falls in this very area.
The cops claim that even the manner in which the murder was committed seemed quiet similar. The district police are rounding up and questioning people with known criminal records who reside in this area.
In case of Sohan Singh, the police found that the thieves had entered the house by scaling the wall, broken through the entrance of the house and reached the bedroom where they clubbed the Singh to death.
A similar pattern has been found in the DSP Balraj Singh Gill and Monica Kapila double murder case, too,so claim the police.
