An accused from whom Dehlon police claimed to have recovered 35 kg poppy husk committed suicide,landing Sub-inspector Swaran Singh in trouble as he has been booked for abetment to suicide.
The Dehlon police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the S-I and other police officials on Saturday.
The case has been registered following a complaint made by Major Singh and Jagrup Singh,brothers of accused Prem Singh of Bhutta village.
On September 25,2011,Sub-Inspector Swaran Singh claimed to recover 35 kg poppy husk from his possession. After availing bail from the court,Prem committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance.
After his death,his brothers alleged that Prem committed suicide after being falsely implicated in a case because he refused to pay bribe to Swarn Singh.
The brothers filed a complaint with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate conducted an inquiry and submitted the report to the Police Commissioner.
Theft at transporters house,case filed
LUDHIANA: A transporters home in Model town was looted by domestic help on Saturday. Surinder Singh told the police that he was away with his family on Friday. When he came back,he found that their gardener Sri Ram was unconscious and the house was ransacked. His servant Madan,who was employed 15 days ago,along with another servant Samir,who was at their house in Samrala,have gone missing,according to Singh. Besides cash,jewellery and other valuables,the accused also stolen the licensed .32 bore revolver of the son of the owner of the house. Model Town SHO Davinder Chaudhary said a case against the three accused Gopal,Madan and Samir had been registered.
