The board had passed an order to admit students till April 10

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB),Mohali, has directed all schools affiliated to it,including government schools,government-aided private schools and private affiliated schools,to admit student without late fee till April 10. The order was issued by Director of Academics,PSEB,Mohali,Pavittar Pal Kaur on March 30.

According to the directive,“All schools and collegiate schools are supposed to admit students in Class IX,X,XI and XII up to April 10. A school head can be given permission to admit students under special circumstances up to April 15. The admissions to Class IX and X should be provisional and in case a student fails in Class VIII or Class X,his admission fee should be adjusted as per class VIII and X”.

N K Bangia, patron of Association of PSEB affiliated schools said the instruction has spelled more trouble for the schools.

“Schools reopened for the 2010-2011 academic session on April 5. But many have not returned from vacations while students of Class X and XII are still busy with practical exams. It is not possible for the schools to close admission after April 10,” said the headmaster of a government school.

Rajinder Sharma, president of the Association of the PSEB affiliated schools opined,“The Board should extend the last date of admissions at least by another two weeks. Else, the schools will register very few admissions.”
